IEEE Student Branches Deutschland besucht Forschungscampus

Am 23. und 24.05.2023 trafen sich die Vertretungen aller IEEE Student Branches verteilt aus ganz Deutschland am Forschungscampus STIMULATE in Magdeburg. Das IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) ist ein weltweiter Berufsverband von Ingenieuren, Technikern, Wissenschaftlern und angrenzender Berufe hauptsächlich aus den Bereichen Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik. Die Student Branches sind die studentischen Initiativen des IEEE an den Universitäten. Die meisten Mitglieder haben entsprechend einen MINT-Hintergrund aus den Fachbereichen Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaft sowie Technik und sind in der Regel Master-Studierende oder Doktorand:innen.

Nach dem Austauschtreffen der knapp 20 studentischen Vertretungen erhielten sie Einblicke in die Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeiten in der Fakultät für Elektrotechnik der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg sowie in der Experimentellen Fabrik und im Forschungscampus. Die STIMULATE-Beteiligten stellten dabei die medizintechnischen Labore mit dem biplanaren Angiographiesystem, dem Computertomographen und dem Magnetresonanztomographen vor. Auch die beiden Startups RAYDIAX und Neoscan Solutions, die herstellende Unternehmen für interventionelle CT-Geräte bzw. Kleinkind-MRT-Geräte sind, öffneten ihre Türen.

IEEE Student Branches Germany visits Research Campus

On May 23 and 24, 2023, the representatives of all IEEE Student Branches distributed from all over Germany met at the Research Campus STIMULATE in Magdeburg. The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is a worldwide professional association of engineers, technicians, scientists and related professions mainly from the fields of electrical engineering and information technology. The Student Branches are the IEEE's student initiatives at universities. Accordingly, most members have a STEM background from the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences as well as engineering and are usually master's students or PhD students.

After the exchange meeting of the nearly 20 student representatives, they were given insights into the research and development work in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg as well as in the Experimental Factory and the Research Campus. The STIMULATE members presented the medical technology laboratories with the biplanar angiography system, the computer tomograph and the magnetic resonance tomograph. The two startups RAYDIAX and Neoscan Solutions, which are manufacturing companies for interventional CT devices and infant MRI devices, respectively, also opened their doors.
