STIMULATE zeigt das portable OCRA Tabletop MRI System auf FIRST LEGO League
Der Forschungscampus STIMULATE präsentierte auf der FIRST LEGO League in Magdeburg am 27.01.2024 im Gebäude der Magdeburger Industrie- und Handelskammer sein Mini-MRT-Gerät.
Das Tabletop MRT, entworfen und entwickelt von Forschenden des Forschungscampus STIMULATE der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg ist eine vollfunktionsfähige Miniaturversion eines Magnetresonanztomographen (MRT). Die kompakte Bauweise ermöglichte es, das OCR-Tabletop auf der FIRST LEGO League auszustellen und dort den Besuchenden Einblicke in die Funktionsweise eines MRT-Gerätes zu geben.
Die Verbindung von Lego und Medizintechnik ist mehr als nur Spielerei und hat an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg schon eine in den Studiengängen für Elektro- und Informationstechnik bekannte Historie. In insgesamt 2 Praxiswochen erlernen die Studierenden im unterstützten Selbststudium mechanische Grundlagen und Softwareprogrammierung für die Erstellung eigener automatisch funktionierender Projekte auf Basis von LEGO-Technik. Diese Expertisen kommen auch im Bereich der Erforschung und Entwicklung neuer Medizintechnik zum Tragen. Ein weiterer wichtiger Schlüsselfaktor für die Gestaltung der Zukunft der Medizintechnik ist die Kreativität, da sie die Entwicklung effektiver, effizienter und benutzerfreundlicher Technologien vorantreibt.
Die FIRST LEGO League bietet eine Plattform für Schüler:innen, ihre Kreativität und Teamarbeit zu präsentieren. Das Mini-MRT ließ die Schüler:innen echte Hard- und Softwareentwicklung erleben und gibt einen Ausblick, wie sie ihre LEGO-Projekt-Kompetenzen in einer späteren Ingenieurskarriere anwenden könnten.

The Research Campus STIMULATE presented its mini MRI device at the FIRST LEGO League in Magdeburg on January 27, 2024 in the building of the Magdeburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The tabletop MRI, designed and developed by researchers from the Research Campus STIMULATE at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, is a fully functional miniature version of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner. The compact design made it possible to exhibit the OCR tabletop at the FIRST LEGO League and give visitors an insight into how an MRI machine works.
The combination of Lego and medical technology is more than just a gimmick and already has a well-known history at Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg in the electrical engineering and information technology courses. In a total of 2 practical weeks, students learn the mechanical basics and software programming for the creation of their own automatically functioning projects based on LEGO technology in supported self-study. This expertise is also used in the research and development of new medical technology. Creativity is another key factor in shaping the future of medical technology by driving the development of effective, efficient and user-friendly technologies.
The FIRST LEGO League provides a platform for students to showcase their creativity and teamwork. The Mini MRT let the students experience real hardware and software development and gives them a preview of how they could apply their LEGO project skills in a future engineering career.
