Neue YouTube Serie: X-Ray Vision Quiz für Jung und Alt

STIMULATE und die Fakultät für Elektro- und Informationstechnik der OVGU haben die ersten zwei Folgen einer Serie von kurzen Quiz-Videos auf YouTube veröffentlicht. Gezeigt werden einmalige CT- und MRT-Bilder von Alltagsgegenständen - jeweils zwei Studierende versuchen dann, diese zu erraten. Geplant sind insgesamt mindestens 6 Folgen für das Jahr 2022.

Die neue YouTube-Serie, produziert vom Forschungscampus STIMULATE und der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, ermöglicht ab sofort der interessierten Allgemeinheit, noch nie dagewesene Blicke in das Innere von Alltagsgegenständen zu werfen und dabei im Quizformat auf unterhaltsame Wiese etwas über medizinische Bilder dazu zu lernen. Mittels CT- und MRT-Schnittbildern und 3D-Renderings erhalten die Zuschauenden quasi einen Röntgenblick, mit dem sie Gegenstände in jede Raumrichtung durchleuchten und auf Spurensuche gehen können. Es gilt, in jeder Folge eine Aufgabe vor der Auflösung zu erfüllen - im einfachsten Fall, den Gegenstand auf den Röntgenbildern zu erkennen.

Am Forschungscampus STIMULATE wird für die Erforschung und Entwicklung minimal-invasiver bildgeführter Therapien mit bildgebenden Großgeräten tagtäglich in das Innere von beispielsweise menschlichen Phantomen geschaut. Die YouTube-Serie soll die Faszination der Forschenden für solche Bilder auch bei fachlichen Laien, insbesondere Schülern und Schülerinnen, wecken und so potentiellen Studierenden den Medizintechnikstudiengang in Magdeburg schmackhaft machen.

Alle gezeigten Bilder sind am Forschungscampus STIMULATE mit modernsten medizinischen Bildgebungsgeräten angefertigt worden. Sie werden nicht nur in den Quiz-Videos gezeigt, sondern künftig auch zu Lehrzwecken eingesetzt werden. Die in den Videos zu sehenden Rätselnden sind Medizintechnik-Studierende, die nicht in die Rätsel eingeweiht wurden und die weitestgehend ungeschnittene Darstellung verleiht den Videos eine besondere Authentizität.

New YouTube series: X-Ray Vision Quiz for young and old

STIMULATE and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at OVGU have published the first two episodes of a series of short quiz videos on YouTube. Unique CT and MRI images of everyday objects are shown - two students then try to guess them. A total of at least 6 episodes are planned for 2022.

The new YouTube series, produced by the Research Campus STIMULATE and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, now allows the general public to take an unprecedented look inside everyday objects and learn about medical images in an entertaining quiz format. Using CT and MRI cross-sectional images and 3D renderings, viewers are given a kind of X-ray view with which they can scrutinise objects in every spatial direction and search for clues. The aim of each episode is to fulfil a task before resolution - in the simplest case, to recognise the object on the X-ray images.

Research Campus STIMULATE uses large-scale imaging equipment to look inside human phantoms, for example, on a daily basis in order to research and develop minimally invasive image-guided therapies. The YouTube series is intended to awaken the researchers' fascination for such images in laypeople, especially schoolchildren, and thus make the medical technology degree programme in Magdeburg appealing to potential students.

All of the images shown were produced at the Research Campus STIMULATE using state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment. They will not only be shown in the quiz videos, but will also be used for teaching purposes in the future. The puzzlers in the videos are medical technology students who were not involved in the puzzles and the largely uncut presentation gives the videos a special authenticity.
